The Fear of the Lord - The Path We Must Recover
A continual theme in the Old Testament, the fear of the Lord is a less-mentioned but vital theme in the New. For the Bible teaches that holiness is perfected in the fear of the Lord (2 Corinthians 7:1) and without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14). The early church was strengthened and multiplied through walking in the fear of the Lord and the comfort of the Holy Spirit, (Acts 9:31).
The church today says much about the love, grace and mercy of God, and rightly so, but almost nothing about righteousness and justice which are the foundation of His throne (Psalm 89:14). It does not trumpet that Jesus is coming to judge the nations and for war. It is more focused on escape through the Rapture. However, Jesus promised tribulation such as has never been seen before. Re-read Matthew 24 with fresh vision!
Jesus said the Rapture will occur at His second coming when He comes with His heavenly hosts for battle. The church will not suffer God's wrath but will endure the tribulation, which is not God's wrath but Satan's. Jesus promises the one who endures to the end will be saved. He is often repeated tjis in the book of Revelation.
Jesus is not coming as "gentle Jesus meek and mild," but as the Commander of heaven's armies. No earthly power will be able to injure or withstand Him; and He will visit His wrath upon those who have rejected Him and persecuted His church and His people. He will smash the armies that Revelation tells us will be ranged against Israel to destroy her.
So this book is on point and on time.
In keeping with Eric's two earlier books, it is a wake-up call and tutor to the church. Recover the fear of the Lord to strengthen faith, courage and fortitude to endure what lies ahead.
